‘Legends of Tomorrow’: Has the premiere date been revealed?

Legends -

It may not be confirmed just yet, but it appears that a certain band of legends is going to be heading over to The CW come January.

As uncovered by SpoilerTV at the end of a lengthy Paley Center video with Peter Roth and Greg Berlanti below, the first season of “Legends of Tomorrow” will begin on Thursday, January 21. No specific time has been revealed yet, but if we had to guess, we’d say that 9:00 p.m. Eastern would be a better fit than 8:00.

Our concern about this particular show coming on during the “family hour” is that it puts it in direct competition with “The Big Bang Theory,” which at least has a reasonably nerdy following, even if it is a tad more mainstream. What’s the competition at 9:00? You’re looking mostly at CBS comedies, “The Blacklist,” and “Scandal,” and none of these are even remotely similar shows, or even really nerdy at all. It would give the series a greater chance to shine on its own.

For a while, we strongly wondered whether or not The CW would just stick “Legends of Tomorrow” after “The Flash,” but the concern there could be that airing two hour blocks in one night may be asking a lot of the audience. Do we think it’d get decent ratings? Probably, but if the show is good enough, it really should be able to stand on its own.

The upcoming “Arrow” and “The Flash” crossover starting on December 1 is in many ways going to be the backdoor pilot for the show, since watching it will give you a good idea of who Hawkman and Hawkgirl are, let alone the Big Bad in Vandal Savage. Head over here right now to read more!
