‘The Fall’ season 3 spoilers: Series creator on future of Jamie Dornan – Gillian Anderson series
It is not often that we get much in the way of concrete news on “The Fall” these days, and there is a simple reason for that: The show has not been in production in well over a year! That is about to change, though, as Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson will be back to continue the tale of Paul Spector and Stella Gibson.
Before we continue, we should remind you that there was never really any doubt on our part about Paul’s survival despite the shooting. It just makes sense. Dornan is a popular star at the moment, and we presume that the only factual way for the series to have killed him off would have been if he opted to focus solely on a film career and not ventured back to television.
One of the interesting things about the show is that internationally, its release date is extremely scaled. Therefore, it is just coming out in Australia for season 2, even though this season premiered in America early this year and aired in Britain last year. This means more press is being done, which in turn is why creator Allan Cubitt did a recent interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, one where he did not confirm whether or not justice would be served by the end of the third season. Instead, he kept matters ambiguous. Does this mean that there could be a fourth season? We figure that this depends mostly on how badly the cast and he want to continue telling this story.
Cubitt also commented in the interview that the tone and themes of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” another project starring Dornan, may in some ways detract audiences from the message he is trying to convey about power and gender in thisshow:
“I don’t know if Fifty Shades of Grey has any serious political or intellectual content or not, but I think it’s confused things for me and for The Fall that Jamie chose to do that part. That was his decision. I wasn’t party to that decision. If I’m honest, I think it’s maybe a tad unfortunate for The Fall, because The Fall has a very serious intent behind it, and I don’t know about Fifty Shades of Grey.”
