‘Reign’ season 3, episode 5 video: Francis’ fate is all in a logo

We don’t think we really need to tell you to watch Friday night’s new episode of “Reign” live, but we’re doing it anyway: You need to watch Friday night’s new episode of “Reign” live.

“In a Clearing” may end up being the most important episode of the entire series so far, and it all ties back to Francis. If you read some of the preseason interviews, then you know already that the character is going to die. It is written into history, and the show is not out to make that significant of a departure. The only mystery that was left out of some of the preseason press was when … but all signs are pointing to “In a Clearing.”

The most obvious bit of evidence that you are going to find is the logo at the end of the promo below. This season all “Reign” promos have ended super-intense, with a color palette that is mostly red and black. This one, however, features gold, whites, and grays with a ship out in the middle of the sea. The symbolism of Heaven here is meant to be strong. Francis was just starting to recover, and now he will be taken away from Mary once more. Even if he does somehow manage to survive this episode, he won’t be there much longer.

While we imagine that this is going to be an incredibly emotional affair to watch unfold, we are in the end grateful over the way that The CW is doing this with letting fans in on what is going to happen. This allows all of us to prepare as viewers, and to also remember that this is not the end of Mary’s story. There are many important events still to come that will play out throughout the season.
