‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: Is Zelena already set to give birth?

There may be something strange going on with Zelena on “Once Upon a Time” Sunday night. If you look back at the past several episodes, it certainly does not seem as thought she is ready to welcome her mysterious child with Robin Hood into the world. Yet, it’s happening nonetheless, and that is something that the cast has to brace for on Sunday night. There is a reason that the first episode of the upcoming two-hour event is entitled “Birth.”

ABC just released the synopsis for this hour, and it looks to be perhaps more Zelena-heavy than any particular one that we have seen so far this season:

“In the first hour of this special “Once Upon a Time” event – “Birth” – tensions in Camelot come to a head when Merlin, now under Arthur’s control, delivers an ultimatum to Emma: hand over the Dark One dagger and the Promethean spark or he will kill her entire family. Refusing to give in, Emma and our heroes face off against Arthur, Merlin and Zelena in an epic battle of magic and will. Just when the end is in sight, Emma is forced to make a gut-wrenching choice that no one saw coming. Back in Storybrooke, Zelena’s pregnancy mysteriously accelerates and Hook goes to new and desperate lengths to get answers from the Dark Swan.”

It seems right for this baby to be present sooner rather than later, given that it gives Robin Hood something further to do and the past few installments have been rather quiet on that front. Let’s just hope that this is not the token evil / cursed baby that some other shows, including one that Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis worked for previously in “Lost,” are famous for.
