TV Quick Hits: ‘Twin Peaks’ delayed; ‘Grimm’ season 5 news; ‘His Dark Materials’ heading to BBC
“Twin Peaks” delayed – Many out there likely saw this show’s delay until 2017 coming. As a matter of fact, we always assumed that this is when the Mark Frost – David Lynch series was going to premiere.
Now, it has been confirmed via Les Moonves’ recent earnings call via Variety. Production is already underway on the revival, but one of the issues regarding the return of the show has very much to do with the episode count. We’re not sure anyone knows at this point, and if they do, they’re keeping ti a secret.
“Grimm” news – Fresh off the premiere of the show, take a look below at one particularly-interesting episode coming up on Friday, November 20 entitled “Maiden Quest”:
“A wealthy mobster sets three young men on a quest to win his daughter Elena’s (guest star Madeline Zima) hand in marriage and earn his fortune. As they work toward accomplishing their task, bodies start to pile up and Nick (David Giuntoli) and Hank (Russell Hornsby) are on the case. Meanwhile, Adalind (Claire Coffee) and Nick try to adjust to home life but a surprise visitor shakes things up.”
“His Dark Materials” coming to BBC – Philip Pullman’s classic work is coming to TV! The last time someone attempted this was in the poorly-reviewed feature film “The Golden Compass.” This is what the author had to say in a brief statement:
“It’s been a constant source of pleasure to me to see this story adapted to different forms and presented in different media … In recent years we’ve seen the way that long stories on television, whether adaptations (Game Of Thrones) or original (The Sopranos, The Wire), can reach depths of characterisation and heights of suspense by taking the time for events to make their proper impact and for consequences to unravel. And the sheer talent now working in the world of long-form television is formidable. For all those reasons I’m delighted at the prospect of a television version of His Dark Materials.”
It’s likely a long time before the series is ultimately going to air, but we do feel like the source material is probably going to be produced better for TV than it was in the movies.
