‘Reign’ season 3 spoilers: How Francis’ death could impact Narcisse

While Narcisse and Lola may be married on “Reign,” let’s just say that this story in particular is going to get more and more complicated as time goes by. Why is that? Let’s just say that the death of Francis is going to provide an interesting spark in the court, and make things all the more complicated for himself when it comes to his feelings for Catherine, and then also his own thirst for power that we saw last season.

This character has always had a complicated list of motives, and speaking in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Laurie McCarthy had the following to say when it comes to how events coming up could shape the future:

“[Francis’ death] shifts the power dynamic at court between Narcisse and Catherine … There’s going to be a huge battle for the regency coming up and a blossoming relationship between Catherine and Narcisse, because his ambition is going to be awakened again.”

What does Narcisse desire the most? This will be one of the key things that pushes him in the episodes to come. He could be at a crossroads, and clearly he’s not going to be the only one. With the death of Francis, Mary has to figure out how to tap into more of her own inner strength, and better pave a way for the future.

Of course, don’t expect any answers on the subject of any of this in the relatively near future, given that we’re not quite done yet with Francis on the show, and also because this series still has a ways to go this season.
