‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: You will learn names of Alaric’s twins

“The Vampire Diaries” continues to like to find interesting ways in which to surprise you, and on this past episode of the show airing on The CW, the surprise just so happened to be the show figuring out a new way in which to use flash-forwards. So far this season, they’ve mostly been anchors at the end of the story, but here, we saw one with Alaric much more in the early going … one where it was revealed that he is actually the father to twins.

It’s only understandable that you would want some more answers in regards to these children, including who their mother is and also what the name is of the other twin. Based on what executive producer Julie Plec told Entertainment Weekly after the episode aired, it certainly looks like at least one of these mysteries will be resolved this season:

“I love this flash forward, where we see that Alaric has twin 3-year-old daughters. One is named Josie, after his kinda-sorta dead wife. The other’s name will be revealed much later in the season, but when the name was pitched to me, it brought tears to my eyes.”

The last part of that should be an interesting clue, and our guess for now would be “Jenna” since that ties so much back to the earlier seasons of the show where she was a huge part of the proceedings. Naming the child “Elena” at this point would ultimately be a little bit too much on the nose.
