‘Penny Dreadful’ season 3 spoilers: Meet Ethan’s father!

The third season of “Penny Dreadful” on Showtime has a wide array of different stories that it needs to tackle, and we say that mostly upon realizing just how far some of the characters are going to be separated from one another. Ethan is seemingly en route back to America, Sir Malcolm could be heading to another continent, and many characters in general are still reeling from the aftermath of next season.

For the most part, Ethan’s lineage is something that the show has kept under wraps … but only until now. According to Entertainment Weekly, Brian Cox is going to be coming aboard as Jared Tablot, described as a “powerful rancher … who has long been on the hunt for his son. Talbot will stop at nothing to bring Ethan back west to settle the score.”

Cox has appeared on a variety of different programs over the years, including such legendary ones as “Frasier” and “Deadwood.” More recently, he was a part of the NBC limited series “The Slap.” You are going to be meeting him on the show for the first time in around the midway point of the season, and he will be appearing in at least two episodes. In that time, you better prepare for a wide array of different surprises to be thrown Ethan’s way.

As for when “Penny Dreadful” will be coming on the air, Showtime does not have a definite premiere date just yet. For the time being, we’d just say to expect the show to be airing again in the spring.
