‘The Muppets’ scores full-season order; ‘Lookinglass’ order cut by Fox
Let’s start today’s episode-count story with news on “The Muppets.” The ABC comedy, which has been an adult take on the classic Jim Henson characters set in the fake documentary style of “Parks and Recreation” or “Modern Family,” now has a full season.
With that being said, this is not the same sort of full-season pickup that we’ve seen with some other shows. This season is going to be for only 16 episodes, which our guess is mostly thanks to the large glut of programs that ABC is putting on the air this year. (They still have multiple other shows waiting in the wings.) Still, it is somewhat surprising to see the show get this many episodes when “Last Man Standing” and “Dr. Ken” on Friday nights each have longer runs. Then again, they are more comfortable there, and this is a show finding its footing on Tuesday.
While the ratings for “The Muppets” have fallen mightily over the past few weeks from where they premiered, the show still has to be considered a winner for ABC. It has done well in DVR viewing, and on average helped the network surge its year-to-year viewing on Tuesdays.
In others news – Not everyone out there may be familiar just yet with “Lookinglass,” the upcoming Fox drama formerly known as “The Frankenstein Code.” One thing you should still know, though, is that it is getting fewer episodes than first planned.
Fox has trimmed the first-season order for this show to 11, which seems to be once again thanks to a complicated schedule. Since it has yet to even premiere yet, it doesn’t seem right to blame the ratings. If you have not seen any footage on this show yet, you can do so below.
