‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 6 preview: Will Robert continue to recover?
Near the end of this past episode of “Downton Abbey,” we had probably one of the most-shocking moments of the entire series as Robert suffered what appeared to be a ruptured ulcer. It was an especially graphic moment in a show that is typically known for being a little more subtle, and we were genuinely concerned for at least a moment or two that he was not going to make it out of this in one piece.
Luckily, there is some good news in the photo above from Sunday night’s episode: Hugh Bonneville’s character appears to be back on the mend. He is in bed when he is visited by none other than Violet (Maggie Smith), who certainly has had quite a busy season thanks to all of the hospital drama.
So what do we think one of the biggest takeaways of this season is going to be? It’s difficult to say with confidence, but we imagine that a big part of it is going to be trying to show just how you really cannot plan for everything in life. With that, Robert may need to specifically start to prioritize what he wants life to look like at Downton even beyond his life. Therefore, he can start to make things easier for his daughters down the road. This incident certainly may have put things in perspective.
We’ll have some further updates when it comes to this episode in the near future, so be on the lookout for some of that! We’ll also have a review up after the episode airs.
