‘Ink Master’ season 7: Premiere date speculation, cast hopes (including our All-Stars dream)
Is “Ink Master” coming back for a seventh season? Going into tonight’s season 6 finale, we are pleased to answer that the answer to this question is a definitive “yes.”
In late May, Spike TV officially announced that they had renewed the show, so there was never really any concern at all during this “Masters vs. Apprentices” season. They also announced that the new season would premiere in the spring of 2016, and contain the same number of episodes (16) as this season. That means that more than likely, you’ll have more than enough tattoo-related television to keep you entertained until well into the summer, unless of course the network surprises us by premiering it earlier than expected.
As far as a theme, we hope that the show either does one of two things.
1. Go back to basics – Do we really need more themes like “Rivals” or “Masters vs. Apprentices”? That is a little more limiting from a casting point of view, since every artist needs some sort of counterpoint. Given that there are only so many genuinely great artists, you may not want to limit yourself in such a way.
2. All-Stars / Second Chance – We know that this would be somewhat tricky since some of these artists have done “Tattoo Nightmares” and a variety of other holiday specials for Spike since the end of their season, but there’s something fun about getting some of the best artists back for another go. We’re not sure the winners would want to return, but how about everyone else for a “Second Chance” sort of format. Given that there is no shortage of great characters / artists out there, we have 100% belief that this would be entertaining and the standard would be higher than ever.
Update: As it turns out, there is a season with returning artists coming up! It was announced at the finale, and you can read more here.
