ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8: Nathan Fillion reacts to Castle – Beckett twist
It has been over a week now since “Castle” had the dramatic “breakup” between its two leads, but the fan reaction is still more than a little strong. some feel like the show over-extended itself for the sake of drama, threw out the chemistry that it spend so long to build, and made things far more complicated than they needed to be.
As it turns out, you’re not along when questioning the twist. The cast of “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” reunited at a PaleyFest event in New York City this weekend, and in a brief chat with TVLine, Nathan Fillion started off his take on the twist with a joke:
“First of all, I asked them if they were high … Second, they reassured me that what was going was they wanted to get back to a time when people were rooting for the couple, rooting for them to get together, to do something … People had a desire, a wont, for them to fight for something. I think [the showrunners] did a really good job.”
We understood the reason for everyone’s concern, and we do hope that there is a reason to be hopeful soon. With that said, we do still think that the showrunners have a plan that will get them to a happy place in the end. So long as there is still plenty of time to see them together again as a couple, we’ll be happy. They need that especially given our concerns that this could be the final season. The fate of the show moving forward is unclear.

I believe that the show turned the corner and started downhill in season six. It was then that the show became inane. (I love this word whose simple meaning is that it is something that makes no sense, has no substance and has no idea.)
I loved the show, Mash. It had many similarities to Castle – it was comic/dramatic, it had great actors, it had one great and simple story line and each episode was original in content and context and stood on its own merits. However, where they are not similar is that Castle has a central story line (the Caskett love affair) as well as others that make no “sense” – the Castle disappearance, the marriage hiatus, the second part of 3xk and the wedding delay are four of supposedly major events in the lives of the characters yet no activity to resolve these issues occurs for a year or more and the viewers get bored and get to the point that they could care less if the issues ever get resolved.
I will not go into detail about examples of “has no substance” and “has no idea” because I am sure that you probably know of examples.

When the total viewers and the demo are half of what they were in season 6, I think it’s safe to say this may be the last of the series.
ABC can get by with 6 mil viewers , but not the demo sinking lower than the 1.2.

It’s sort of unfair to ask actors big questions (story line) about the TV show they’re working in. The actors are the face of the show, so I get why reporters do ask these questions, but the actors generally haven’t seen the end product. They act in the scenes they’re given. Those scenes are generally out of order. They may be for different episodes. They don’t have time to watch their show because they are busy shooting some other episode. The reporters need to ask those questions first and foremost of the show runners then maybe the director and screen editor. They really tell the story that we see on the screen.
That doesn’t make this season on Castle any less of a major screw-up or the fans any less furious. It does give another reason why Stana decamped to Europe for 10 days or so. Someone might have tipped her off about the train wreck.
Anyway, I’d dump 90% of the blame for the squandering of the good will built up around a show that can be great on the new show runners. I’d ask them why they think the fans are up in arms and what they thought they were doing. Ask ’em quick because there’s a good chance the show won’t be around much longer.

I agree , but when we asked the writers they fed us a bunch of BS. , they said they were trying to get the magic back, well it didn’t work. I think Stana did get a heads up you didn’t see any of the actors tweeting about the new episodes it was just the writers trying to sell us on this major screw up they did. It appears that they think we are stupid. The future of the show is not unclear it is real doubtful especially after the mess. The writes want the fans to stick around NOT!!! “Because a show runner betraying fans isn’t great ” They are trying to reshape them which is a hugh betrayal of the story that has been building for seasons.

I believe that the future of the show is not “unclear” but is doubtful. They seem to be working harder to end the show rather than extend it.
