‘The Flash’ season 2 spoilers: When will we see the new Firestorm?

FlashFor anyone who saw the season 2 premiere of “The Flash” on The CW earlier this week, one thing was very clear: Ronnie Raymond is gone once again from this world. He was presumed dead at one point during the first season, but he does seem truly gone this time. The final bit of evidence of that? Think along the lines of the fact that Martin Stein is going to be on the hunt for a new partner so that Firestorm can once again be an important hero in Central City.

The upcoming fourth episode of the season is entitled “The Fury of Firestorm,” and it is airing on October 27. Suffice it to say, the synopsis below makes it pretty clear that “Jax” Jackson, a character we first heard about during the “Legends of Tomorrow” casting search, is going to be the new man for the job:

“Barry (Grant Gustin) and the team look for another Firestorm match for Dr. Stein (Victor Garber). When the team meets Jefferson “Jax” Jackson (guest star Franz Drameh), Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) has her reservations about whether Jax is the right match for Dr. Stein. Iris (Candice Patton) surprises Joe (Jesse L. Martin) while Barry and Patty (guest star Shantel VanSanten) grow closer.”

The risk that both this show and “Arrow” are running into in some ways at this point in their seasons is that a lot of what they are doing is setting up the aforementioned spin-off, which will be an especially enormous part of the upcoming crossover event as the Legends prepare to take on Vandal Savage. “The Flash” is going to be bringing in Hawkman and Hawkgirl to go along with Firestorm, while “Arrow” will provide Ray Palmer and Sara Lance. Overall, “Legends” is a little heavier with characters from “The Flash” when you throw in Captain Cold and Heat Wave.
