‘Reign’ season 3 spoilers: Ben Geurens promoted in most unusual way
There are some more changes coming to “Reign” for its upcoming third season, but in this particular instance, it is not coming via traditional means in any sense of the word.
Originally, actor Ben Geurens was cast in the role of Don Carlos, a described “sexy” and “charming” prince from Spain who found some unique ways to shake up the court. However, this is changing in a way that you would not see coming. As reported by TheWrap, Geurens has been recast to play the role of Gideon Blackburn, a key adviser for Queen Elizabeth. Given that he is now a series regular on the CW series, this is considered a step up since the move comes with further job security.
There was no reason given for the change, but we wonder if one of the reasons for it could be a simple result of the show wanting to focus more on the English impact on Mary and Francis’ lives above anything else. We know through history of course how important Elizabeth was to Mary’s reign, and in many ways all of England. These are not things that the show is going to be able to steer clear of, just as there are some other stories coming up (including Francis’ physical state) that will be unavoidable thanks to the events in the history books.
We’re going to have some other news when it comes to “Reign” in the near future, so be on the lookout for that! The show is expected to start airing come Friday night.
