‘Empire’ season 2, episode 3 preview: ‘Fires of Heaven’ introduce Pitbull, feature more Andre drama
Wednesday night’s new episode of “Empire” was a lot about the music, the music business, and about the business that comes with leaking your music online. Suffice it to say, it was crazy. If you love it when the show mixes things up and takes the story in unexpected directions, you probably enjoyed “Without a Country.”
Next week, “Fires of Heaven” is a brilliantly-titled hour that could actually feature, to the surprise of everyone, Cookie and Anika being on the same page again. Meanwhile, we’re going to have a chance to see Pitbull for the first time as himself, which is a precursor to him eventually playing a larger role in the show’s music. Hakeem is going to further along the girl group that we started to see a thing or two about today, and per the synopsis below, Andre is going to do everything that he can to ensure that he gets back into the fold:
“Cookie and Anika secretly work together behind Lucious’ back to pull off a surprise performance that catches the eye of Pitbull (guest-starring as himself). Meanwhile, Lucious tracks down Frank Gathers’ daughter, Young Ma (guest star Bre-Z Murray), to try to convince her to sign with him at Empire, while Hakeem is hard at work on his girl group, Ménage a Trois. Also, Andre and Rhonda hope their baby-on-the-way will be the key that unlocks Lucious’ cold heart and opens the door for Andre to return to the Empire fold.”
We gotta admit: We do feel for Andre. Maybe he’ll get a chance to figure out how to actually win Lucious’ approval in the near future, but in all honesty, we’re really not that optimistic about. Even if you suddenly get Lucious on your side, is it really going to turn out to be what you want?
