‘Downton Abbey’ season 6, episode 2 preview: What is next for Mr. Carson, Mrs. Hughes?
Love is in the air on “Downton Abbey” Sunday night, but that does not necessarily mean that this said love is going to translate into a wedding. The jury is still out on whether or not Mr. Carson and Mrs. Hughes (pictured above) will tie the not during the season, but we know that almost everyone wants to see it happen.
We feel like, for the most part, one of the things that seems to be holding them back at this point is merely that of uncertainty. They don’t know what the future holds, and their wedding is coming at a time when servants all across Britain have to question their job situation. Can they celebrate at a time when they or their friends may not be employed any longer?
If nothing else, at least the two do not seemingly have worry any longer about romantic hurdles. Mr. Carson made it clear at the end of this past episode that he was not looking for a surface-level marriage; he wants love and all that implies, and he wants to have it with her.
One other interesting storyline that you can expect to see unfold Sunday is Lady Mary try her best to get involved in the planning process, which is tremendous in a way in that it shows that she does care very much for two people who are effectively employees. However, we should make it pretty clear at the moment that whatever plans there were, they end up backfiring.
