‘Arrow’ season 4 spoilers: How will Felicity react to Ray Palmer surprise?

Legends -

When the fourth season of “Arrow” first premieres on The CW, everyone is going to have one clear feeling about Ray Palmer: Sadness. Following the explosion at the end of season 3, the character is presumed dead. Not only that, but Starling City is renamed Star City in his honor, a name that is synonymous more with the Green Arrow comic universe than Starling City ever was.

Given that the character is on the upcoming “Legends of Tomorrow” and is The Atom, it is clear that sooner or later, you’re going to see him rise from the ashes. (He may just be really, really small in the process.) How will the rest of the “Arrow” cast react to this? Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Wendy Mericle makes it clear that this is a “huge emotional reveal, especially for Felicity.” However, it doesn’t have anything to do with the romantic connection that the two once shared:

“It’s more of an emotional reaction to the loss of a friend than any sort of romantic rival. She’s very happy with Oliver when we come back in Season 4, but [she and Ray] were friends and they left on good terms. It’s more just the relief of, ‘Oh my gosh, I thought you were gone and now you’re not. How exciting is that?’”

We’re really not sure just how much of Brandon Routh we are even going to get to see this season, given his new gig on “Legends.” Felicity is going to be spending some of her time working to run Ray’s company, and to go along with that, we’ve also got someone new for her to work with in Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum), who may someday be known as Mr. Terrific if everything happens as it should.
