‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 9, episode 1 video: Leonard and Penny prepare for their wedding!

The season premiere of “The Big Bang Theory” is coming in your direction in just a mere matter of days, and as you probably know by now, the show is wasting no time hyping up a big event: The wedding between Leonard and Penny!

Granted, this is probably not the wedding that you envisioned them having for so many years when you watched the show with your friends and family. You probably thought there would be more romance, more geek flair, or at least some of their friends nearby. That is probably part of what makes this event so surprising, and while we’re sure some out there are disappointed, we appreciate at least that the writers are trying to make this one different from what we saw on the show with Howard and Bernadette.

In many ways, this Vegas affair is about as un-romantic as it gets, even though these two are trying to make the best of it. For example, the sneak peek below (via Entertainment Weekly) makes it clear that Leonard cannot even get the rose petals added to the ceremony that he originally paid for! Instead, someone offscreen offers to get some potpourri from the bathroom as an alternative … albeit a less-than-favorable one.

While we expect some sweet moments (and maybe a few tears?) to come from the fandom during the wedding, we also are going to be happy to see what other stories await these two moving forward. They are going to have to deal still with the woman Leonard kissed while on his boat expedition (read more here), and to go along with that we’re sure there are questions surrounding how they plan to deal with Sheldon, who is hurting from what happened to Amy and likely desperate for attention.
