Is Zach Gilford leaving Criminal Minds: Evolution, Elias Voit?

Following the ends of the Criminal Minds: Evolution season 19 finale, have we really reached the end of the road for Elias Voit?

Before we even go far here, let’s just say that Zach Gilford’s character has certainly had a winding and polarizing journey. It started with him serving as a Big Bad and then after that, he went through everything from memory loss to being an asset. The character is still alive, but it feels like at the same time, he is going to be transferred out and forced to serve the remember of his multiple life sentences elsewhere. This all came after his own daughter Holly was taken and we saw a tense stand-off involving him and the Fan.

So did Voit actually find a measure of redemption working with the BAU this season? That may be too strong a word, but he may have found something. Speaking to TVLine, here is what Gilford had to say about working with Rossi, Prentiss, and company this season:

… Before, he just looked down his nose at these people and was just always trying to outsmart them — which he usually always did. But this season, he’s definitely looking for some sort of… I don’t even think he’s looking for redemption. I think he’s just trying to do what he thinks is right, and, and not even right wrongs, but mitigate the repercussions of his past actions.

Even though Gilford is gone from Criminal Minds for the time being, you never know what the future could hold! He was going to be a part of the show’s legacy in a big way and while you can argue that Voit was kept around for too long, he definitely made an impression in some form.
