‘NCIS’ season 13, episode 1 video: The waiting game for Gibbs
In just a week from Tuesday, the latest season of “NCIS” is going to be premiering on CBS, and you are going to get many answers to questions you’ve been long wondering … including whether or not Agent Gibbs is going to make it to the end of the premiere in one piece. We certainly feel confident that he will, and some of his struggles moving forward are going to by psychological as much as they are physical.
While we live in the world where a popular TV show is not going to kill off its star, the characters within NCIS don’t have that sort of foresight. Therefore, it makes sense that we would see the likes of Bishop, Abby, Jimmy, and Ducky all being completely worried over whether or not Mark Harmon’s character survives his surgery.
One purpose that this preview does have is giving us further insight and an introduction to Dr. Taft, the man who will be responsible for saving Gibbs’ life. Jon Cryer is coming over after years on “Two and a Half Men” to play the part, and there are questions all about why his character, a decorated veteran and someone who worked at Walter Reed, is now operating aboard a ship. Maybe he just likes the challenge.
Ultimately, we anticipate seeing a good bit of Cryer, just as we also anticipate seeing at least some of Gibbs’ life flashing before his eyes as he battles to determine whether or not he can make it through this. We expect some emotion, and maybe even a little nostalgia.
