‘The Amazing Race Canada 3’ top 4 rankings: Are things as obvious as they seem?
We are going into the final two episodes of “The Amazing Race Canada” season 3, and this is where we at times say that “anyone could win” or other platitudes that apply to a given group of people.
Unfortunately, we just really don’t think the statement applies all that much here for one simple reason: We feel like this is probably the easiest season to rank at this point in years. While it was crazy-unpredictable in the early going with teams going from being 100% safe to in danger, there are clearly some teams left who are just better racers than others, and while it is possible that we could still be surprised, it feels hard to envision certain teams winning. Let’s dive into this, since it will probably be a little easier to understand what we are saying once we do.
4. Simi & Ope – They have never finished higher than third, and while they are super-likable and seem like really nice people, they’re just not fast. Ope is going to struggle in any potential water challenge the rest of the way, and to go along with that he’s also the oldest person left. We just don’t see a path to the million dollars here.
3. Brent & Sean – A few weeks ago, we would’ve given them maybe a 0% chance of winning. Now, we’re upping that to around 5%. They did beat Nick & Matt in a footrace on this past episode, and while they do at times make silly mistakes and get frustrated, they are resilient. Also, they are very smart, and there are certain skill challenges that they could hammer out if they got some of them near the end.
2. Nick & Matt – Right now, maybe we give them around a 30% chance of coming in first, mostly because they’ve gotten for the most part a pretty good edit and have been relatively near the front of the pack almost the entire race. We just pointed out the problem with them, though, versus Brent & Sean and Gino & Jesse: They’re just not that fast. They’re good navigators and they rarely make mistakes, but they may need to rely on the mistakes of others to win.
1. Gino & Jesse – Yep, we’re giving these guys a 65% chance that they are the winners. We just don’t think they can be defeated now that we’re likely back in Canada the rest of the season, and they are more than just fast; they’re also resourceful and have a lot of practical knowledge. We also think that editing-wise, we’ve learned a good bit about their past and their relationship. It’s hard to make a team this strong and imposing endearing, but the show has really tried.
