‘Downton Abbey’ season 6 spoilers: The latest on Allen Leech’s Tom Branson

For a while, it was a well-kept secret just whether or not we were going to see Allen Leech back on “Downton Abbey.” Now, it is starting to seem more and more like the truth is out there.

Well, technically the truth was out there many months ago, when Allen was spotted on the set of the UK series. The show had tried to keep the future of Tom Branson a secret after the character claimed that he was going to move to America, but he more or less confirmed it in a post on Twitter. (You can see that below.)

Speaking per Deadline, Leech made it clear that he knew that he was going to be back on the show long before he returned to set, but it is unclear just how long he will be around for now. As for what sort of circumstances could be bringing him back, we can think of a pretty wide array. Maybe he is returning for some sort of family event, or who knows? Maybe he never actually left in the first place, and something went wrong with his plans.

One way or another, we are glad that Tom is going to be there for the show’s swan song; he is one of our favorites, and we’d still argue that if there was ever a demand for a series featuring his characters and his adventures in America, we would be more than happy to watch it. We just have to wait and see if something like that ever happens.
