‘NCIS’ season 13 spoilers: Is Mark Harmon’s Gibbs back in action?
For those wondering just how long Gibbs is going to be hospitalized on “NCIS,” we have an answer for you that is starting to look very much like “not long at all.”
The photo that we have for you above is a first look at “Personal Day,” the upcoming second episode of the season airing on Tuesday, September 29. Clearly, not only is Mark Harmon’s character standing, but he is also sporting a rather professional get-up at the same time! The synopsis below alludes that this may be a reference to a new perspective and outlook that the character has in the wake of all that transpired with him:
“Gibbs calls on the team to assist DEA Agent Luis Mitchell (John Gabriel) with a case that keeps going cold, but DiNozzo discovers there is more to Gibbs’ personal connection to the agent and his desire to help him succeed. Also, the team gossips about Gibbs’ new look after he replaces his standard military haircut and polo shirt for a modern cut and tailored dress shirt.”
We do not really believe that it is all that much of a spoiler to anyone that Gibbs is seemingly doing well now, if for no other reason than that it has already been revealed that physically, he is going to survive being shot at the end of season 12. The longer-term consequences to what happened to him could be psychological, and that could be what takes a reasonable amount of time to figure out what they will be. As soon as we know more, you better believe that we will have further insight for you here.

Gibbs looks terrible. He is too thin and looks like he aged 10 years. Not a good change. Actually looks like he is seriously sick

#Gibbsinator… just ridiculous. NCIS used to be a really good serie. Now it seems, someone in chargé lost his mind.

I was really hoping that Tony would get to matter for more than 2 seconds in the first episode this season but I guess, given that NCIS has been turned into the all Gibbs/all the time Show, I should have known that Gibbs would be back doing everything that is flattering to a character that needs to be done in two shakes of a lambs tail. I’m not really all that riveted if Mr. Harmon parts his hair in a new place this season, but as a Tony fan, it’s become clear that just like Tony, I don’t matter to tptb. Everything is always ALL about Gibbs.

Tony will be appearing on NCIS-LA as a guest for one episode. Shane Brennan always did well by Michael Weatherly. He wrote a lot of eps for Tony. The Gibbs all the time, nothing but Gibbs thing started during the Gary Glasberg era. I’m hoping that Brennan will give Tony the spotlight on this upcoming episode. I really like all of the characters on NCIS-LA and am looking forward to seeing Tony interact with them. Shane Brennan learned from the master, DP Bellisario.

Although I don’t normally watch NCIS LA I’ll definitely tune in for this one. Sounds like Weatherly had fun and there’s no way Tony could be less significant than he has become on the Gibbs Show. I wasn’t always crazy about Shane Brennan’s ideas but at least he didn’t turn Tony into a bubble bath loving non entity or recycle plots in order to give Gibbs more business. At least Brennan was able to put the spotlight on other characters for more than a millisecond.

Good to see him back in the field. Love the new look. Never liked Tony being in charge of the team so I’m hoping for Team Gibbs being back after all the struggles they’ll face.

Good to see him back in the field? What’s it been – a half an episode? Sounds like the premier is going to feature Gibbs fighting for his life and by the end of the episode he’ll be back in the bullpen knowing and doing everything worth doing. Not much of a hiatus. You’re lucky that you never want to see Tony in charge. You’ll without a doubt be getting your wish.

It’s said the 2n episode is set as “4 months later”. And Tony will be in charge more than Gibbs. Just because Gibbs is back/better it doesn’t mean he’s able to be in charge. Do you want me to apologize that I don’t think Tony is a good leader? or that he isn’t my favorite character and that I’m not whining 24 hours a day about it? NO! I won’t apologize for that. Neither Tony nor Gibbs are my favorites but in my opinion, Tony isn’t a good leader. If you have a problem with that, then it is your problem and not mine. So leave me alone please.

Geeze. Lighten up. I’m not looking for apologies nor do I expect everyone or anyone to feel the way I do or need anyone to agree with me. I’m simply disappointed that we won’t be seeing Tony lead in the 4 month interim so as I said, you’ll be getting your wish to not see Tony in the lead. I’m sure if they do actually have Tony in the lead position with Gibbs back at work it is 100 percent certain that Gibbs will really still be written as the one calling the shots, having all the right answers, performing all daring, smart, and brave acts, having all the drama, and being the one who gets the respect of his co-workers. We won’t see competent Tony if Gibbs is there because heaven forbid that the writers don’t make sure they flatter Gibbs at all times. If they have to diminish Tony in order to do this, history tells us that Tony can always be sacrificed to make Gibbs, or anyone for that matter, look superior. You have nothing to worry about.

Are you just….? Ugh “I don’t get what I want so I annoy everyone who’s not interested in having a conversation with me”. Gosh, just stop it. You know what? I have a REAL life, a job an a family and friends, I don’t worry about tv shows as much as you do, obviously. I love the show, I love each character for their own reasons. My favorite doesn’t get that much attention either but do you see me behaving like a baby whom’s toy was taken away? No. Because my life is not focused on tv shows. Goodbye

Sorry – but you’re the one who’s panties seem to get twisted in a knot because I have the unmitigated audacity to comment that I am not thrilled at what has become the Gibbs Show with my favorite relegated to team dunce at all times. I miss clever writing and seeing ALL the characters written as multi dimensional significant parts of a team instead of as ridiculous caricatures who never get to shine anymore. It’s fine that you are happy. You are the kind of fan that is keeping the show on the air so that’s fine for you. I’m just so disappointed that the Gibbs Show is what the show has morphed into because I don’t think it’s nearly as interesting and it’s a shame to waste and barely use the other fine actors and formerly fun characters who also have fans. I’m sorry that my views are soooo annoying for you but believe it or not, my sole aim is not to irritate or illicit a response from you. I’m sorry I can’t be excited about the prospect of another yet another season of the dramas and tragedies of Gibbs Show but I can’t.

You need to take a deep breath and relax. Just because someone see’s the show differently does not mean this is a personal attack on you.

Never said she’d be attacking me. I dared to leave a comment that didn’t fit to her opinion. She and her fellow Gibbs bashers have had long conversations here and yet, she decided to reply to my comment which has not Fitting to their hating-on-Gibbs-show and tried to force her opinion on me. I told her to leave me alone and she didn’t. I’m relaxed, I have the right to leave my opinion here without being anyone forcing their opinion on me.

I’m not “forcing” anything on to you. I couldn’t if I wanted to (which I don’t). I’m just stating my opinion. I’m sorry that it’s so upsetting to you but upsetting you has nothing to do with the intention of my posts.

Hmmmm… No tie but nice suit. Maybe he will eventually end up as director or deputy director. I’ve heard all of the arguments against that happening. Gibbs said he doesn’t want the job. He doesn’t like paperwork. He’s too much of a loose cannon sometimes. (He plays fast and loose with the rules ) He doesn’t do politics well. He committed a felony when he killed Pedro Hernandez (and that is the worst kept secret at NCIS.) etc. etc. etc. Taking Gibbs out of the field and into the office may be a way to keep Harmon on the show and free up more time for Harmon’s personal life. TPTB had Gibbs second guessing himself over the boy from the Calling and now from the previews, he will have a near death experience. I’m guessing that there will be a big change in his roll on NCIS. The idea of Gibbs in management has always been an intriguing one for me. It’s something that I, personally, would like to see.

I would like to see Gibbs take a step back too. I really miss the show being about a team whose members are all great agents and that they all actually matter in the outcome of the case. It doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen though. It’s the Gibbs show. No one else is allowed to matter unless they’re written as instrumental in highlighting some new drama or wonder centered around Gibbs.

I agree, Gibbs as the main entree with a side of one of the other team members leaves me looking for something more nourishing. That is why I watch LA, because Brennan uses all of his actors well. The story lines are sometimes a bit weak. Killing 10 to 20 bad guys per episode does not make for a great story but the characters and the interaction between them is great. Brennan also has continuity between his episodes. Callen’s search for his father is reminiscent of Harm Rabb’s search for his father in JAG. That search spanned many seasons of JAG. The LA team is a family with Hetty as the mother figure. NCIS used to be a family with Gibbs as the father figure (that is what was very clear to anyone who watched from the beginning and Don Bellisario even stated it outright.) but TPTB decided to toss that out. Very frustrating!

They had to throw out the idea of Gibbs as the father figure with the team as his talented protegee’s because heaven forbid any one but Gibbs possess talent these days. Gibbs now must do all the serious agenting and handle all the danger that counts as well as remediating personal problems for Tony who can no longer walk and chew gum at the same time.

Tony doesn’t get to walk or chew gum. Last season he was only allowed to stand around like a cigar store Indian.

Sad but true. I’m guessing that the nudge nudge wink wink “secret” between tptb and the writers is that under no circumstances is Tony allowed to have an exciting or a flattering story line. If they actually do accidentally flatter Tony, Gibbs be written to do something waaaaaay more spectacular to that he will be the undisputed hero since no one must be in any doubt as to who it is most important and to be the worshipped and revered character on the Gibbs Show, also known as NCIS.

I am very much liking Gibbs’ new look. Whatever he is going through, he’s looking fantastic doing it. Actually, Gary Glasberg has already revealed that although the first half of the premier is about Gibbs on the ship in surgery, the second half jumps to present time so the second episode, Personal Day, is really four months afterward, plenty of time for recovery, at least physically. I loved Season 12 and am really looking forward to # 13.
