ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: An even deeper look into premiere ‘XY’
“Castle” just cannot stop spreading the news this week, and we really couldn’t be happier about it.
Yesterday, we shared what was then just a brief synopsis regarding the upcoming September 21 premiere episode entitled “XY,” and it was at least enough to have us reasonably excited about what the story (written by new showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley) could entail. Now, we’ve also got the longer press release, and while we would not say that there are any new bombshells dropped in here, it does provide a little bit more in the way of context. Take a look below, via SpoilerTV:
“After passing the Captain’s exam in the Season 7 finale, Beckett was surprised with an offer to run for State Senate. In the action packed season premiere, Castle and Beckett are adjusting to Beckett’s career change, when a call from a mysterious stranger sets off an explosive chain of events. There are two sides to every story, and this unique two-parter will explore the same story from each of their perspectives, first from Castle’s side as he searches for Beckett.”
The only somewhat-important piece of news to come out of this is further confirmation that the second part of the story, entitled “XX,” will in fact be from the vantage point of Stana Katic’s character. It was easy to assume this, but nice to know with absolute certainty in the end. Hopefully we’ll get some other insight into that episode before too long, such as when we get on the other side of the Labor Day Weekend.

Believe it or not I read earlier this morning that Beckett was becoming a senator and that Beckett’s and Castle’s jobs was going to create a rift between them. This is, of course, contrary to information that we (the fans) have been getting for about the past month that stated that based on information from ABC, cast members and the show runners that Beckett would take over from Gates as Captain of the 12th precinct and that the series always has and always will be based on the Casket love affair.
