‘The Muppets’ spoilers: See first photo of Kermit the Frog’s new girlfriend Denise

The internet was temporarily broken earlier today with news when it comes to “The Muppets,” and specifically it was in reference to Kermit the Frog getting a new girlfriend … who also happens to be a pig. (As he says in the presentation released by ABC, it turns out that he has a type.)

This pig’s name just so happens to be Denise, and she works within a department of ABC. Therefore, she’s someone who is going to be around the set of the show-within-a-show that the characters are producing, which does potentially mean that there will be some fun between her and Missy Piggy (the host of said show).

As for how Piggy is going to react to this, we assume that it will start with her being more or less okay with it in public, while in private she stews and builds up so much rage that eventually she explodes about it at some inopportune time.

We’re sure that some out there in the world are somewhat freaked-out by seeing Kermit with someone else, but the reality here is that this does add another interesting dimension to the show, and really does carry over that connection between these characters and real people. We know that this is something that was a real goal for the producers going in. Oh, and we also figure that this new relationship is not meant to be permanent. If the producers do not eventually move towards putting Piggy and Kermit together again eventually, we will be shocked.

“The Muppets” is going to be premiering on ABC come Tuesday, September 22, and the network has a really great campaign all about the series. You can see some of the latest over at the link here!
