‘Suits’ season 5, episode 11 spoilers: Will we learn the truth behind Mike Ross shocker?
The summer finale of “Suits” was wonderful, emotional, and a great study in character writing. It also happened to contained possibly the biggest twist in the show’s history, with Mike Ross being arrested for conspiracy to commit fraud. This was a long time coming, but a moment very much earned over time.
There are obviously quite a few questions now in terms of what comes next, but perhaps for now, the biggest one is just who is responsible for his arrest in the first place. Is it the priest, who he had just confessed his sins to? While that may be an easy suspect, executive producer Aaron Korsh tells TVLine in a postmortem that the answer to this question is more complicated than that:
“The rules of confession are that he absolutely cannot hand Mike in, in my mind. That doesn’t mean he didn’t. But it’s very interesting. It is everybody’s first question: who turned Mike in? That wasn’t my first question. My first question, both as a writer and when I put myself in the shoes of our characters, is: “What the f—k are we going to do to get out of it, if anything?” The writers, their first question also seemed to be, “Whodunit?” We ended up finding a middle ground where we both explore who did it and try to find out who did it in service of getting out of it. We don’t find out right away, but we will find out. Hopefully, it will be someone that you do not expect.”
For now, we feel like we can probably rule out Harvey, Louis, and Donna as suspects since they know that Mike getting arrested could lead to them being implicated. The priest also appears too obvious. What about someone from Rachel’s family who pieced it all together, Trevor, who is still trying to start over, or even his own ex in Claire, who previously claimed that she wouldn’t turn him in? Could someone like Donna actually have done it? It seems risky, but if she anticipated that Harvey would resign, maybe this brings him back into the fold.
While we’re still not sure we love the idea of Mike in prison, we do like having a really good mystery that will drive us nuts for at least a few months after this.

One of the most brilliant shows in tv history may have “jumped the shark”.

As mentioned many times, Mike’s arrest affects all his closest colleagues so I would rule them out. I think turning Mike in is Personal in its core, and harming the company is a welcomed side effect. Who could personally gain pleasure & BENEFIT from separating Rachel & Mike? I doubt any parent would take such a step when their child’s happiness is at stake. Trevor & Claire both have their own lives and have no reason to be angry with Mike and do harm. With all that said, I would suggest Logan Sanders did it. Or at least I wish he did it. I DO want him back in the series so badly :).

Given that Rachel’s parents are totally unaware that Rachel knows about Mike’s fraud, they WOULD turn Mike in out of protectiveness.
That could be the turning point. Jessica can hang Rachel’s affidavit over the Zanes’ heads, which would force Robert Zane to help fight for Mike’s freedom.

its the guy that got harvey to step down, knowing that if he brings this on after harvey has stepped down he than cannot represent mike or help in the case in any way

You have it backwards. Harvey’s divestment from the firm eliminates the conflict of interest that would exist if he stayed with the firm.

Everyone’s assuming it’s about Mike not being a lawyer. When have these writers ever been that obvious?

…when, in the Season-1 cliffhanger, Trevor actually DID tell Jessica about Mike’s secret. The show’s writers were obvious then…
