‘Empire’ season 2 spoilers: Jussie Smollett, Pitbull take center stage in new promo

The second season of “Empire” is going to be starting up on September 23, and while we know that there is some major drama coming up at some point on the second season, the promo below is actually rather fun!

In this video, you get a great slice of the show’s soundtrack first and foremost courtesy of a new cut featuring the likes of Jussie Smollett (Jamal) and Pitbull, who seems to be playing himself on the show. This sounds like something that you’d hear on the radio! One of the reasons why this show seems to be working is mostly because you are able to get in producers like Timbaland and Ne-Yo to work on the show’s music, and actually make this part of the show feel authentic and not just hokey and something that would be shunned by serious viewers.

In terms of the story, we imagine that Jamal is going to find himself in more and more difficult situations thanks to some of the power that he has over Empire Entertainment … and it doesn’t help at all that there are so many other people in his family that probably want what he has. For example, Cookie’s always getting involved, and while Lucious Lyon is behind bars, that is not going to stop him from wanting to be involved in … well, pretty much everything. That’s something you really have to be prepared for.

We’ll have some other news related to “Empire” as we get closer to the big premiere, but for now the big thing that we’d say above all else is that if you loved the first season, the show really seems intent on delivering more of the same.
