‘Teen Wolf’ season 5, episode 9 review: Is Scott and Stiles’ friendship falling apart?
Tonight, “Teen Wolf” continued its tradition of being super-dramatic with … but for the most part, there were some major reasons for it this time around. While there have been threats courtesy of the Dread Doctors, tonight the real challenge came from within the pack.
For Parrish, paranoia was the name of the game tonight after the truth started to come out that he was seemingly the one responsible for taking the bodies. In response to this, he certainly decided that drastic times called for very drastic measures. He locked himself in a cell, and did not want to come out until there were answers.
Now, let’s turn to Scott and Stiles. Are these two longtime friends starting to completely fall apart? This is what happened as the truth finally came out about what happened with Stiles and Donovan, and the move that he made earlier this season. Stiles really wanted Scott to believe in him, but the hesitancy in his response spoke volumes. Scott is losing belief in his friends, and this is something that could reverberate both through tonight and the summer finale next week.
As for the other major story of the week, we’re talking mostly about Scott’s decision to not give Hayden the bite needed for her to become a full-fledged werewolf. This could mean the death of her, and it comes right after he gave Stiles his lecture about killing people. Obviously, Scott’s not killing her, but this is still a matter potentially and life and death. The fact that he has the capacity to figure out such a decision here shows his growth and the evolution of him as a character.
Moving into the summer finale, Malia and Lydia are in danger, Scott needs to figure out for sure if he’s making the right move, and Beacon Hills is falling apart. Suffice it to say, but some of these people have their work cut out for them. Grade: B.
