‘Masters of Sex’ season 3, episode 6 preview: Masters and Johnson feel side effects of fame

Times are certainly changing on “Masters of Sex,” and we’re not just talking about the hair and the fashion.

Remember the days when Bill Masters and Virginia Johnson could more or less travel anywhere that they wanted without being recognized, and could continue their affair easily as a result? Well, the success of their study, which came about ironically as a result of their closeness, now prohibits such a thing in many ways. Masters bemoans the lack of anonymity in the sneak peek below, telling Virginia that they cannot stay at the desired hotel after he is recognized at the front desk.

Can you imagine just what this situation would be like if these two characters were trying to keep this up today? We imagine that their photos would be all over gossip websites the moment that they walked through the door … at least in theory. It’s also possible that they would be ignored since their last name is not “Kardashian.”

Anyhow, some of this episode is going to be focused on Bill trying to find the strong connection with Virginia once again, but we imagine that this is not going to be anywhere near as easy as he imagines that it could be. These two have been through quite a bit at this point, and there are also some romantic rivals out there. Virginia’s more sought-after than ever before thanks to her work, and unless they find a way to continue a sort of under-the-veil romance, this could end up being very difficult for the two of them to maintain.
