‘Ray Donovan’ season 3, episode 6 preview: Paige wants to get NFL deal done

We have to say that “Ray Donovan” has to be one of those rare beasts in premium cable. Usually, they tend to start really great, only to then start to teeter off a little once you get a few seasons in. In the case of Showtime’s great “Dexter,” it managed to buck the trend a little by making it all the way to season 6 before starting to go downhill a little bit.

“Ray Donovan” actually seems to be getting better every season, and we’re really enjoying this current story in particular. Who would’ve thought that a story about trying to acquire an NFL franchise would be so captivating. It is somewhat relevant to the present, mostly because of the fact that Los Angeles does seem to be almost constantly trying to bring in a football team.

However, and as the sneak peek below provides some evidence of, this is not nearly as easy of a task as it appears on the surface. There are some many different variables that tend to increase the difficulty level here, with one of the biggest ones being the sole fact that there are few people out there who really have an interest in selling. They often try to use Los Angeles as a way to get leverage on some other deals, which is why we imagine that there are going to be a few things in particular about this negotiation that Paige is not going to like within the context of this show.

Maybe we’ll get some resolution to this plot by the end of Sunday’s episode, but we can tell you for now with some certainty that Katie Holmes’ character wants to get something done, and wants it to happen pretty much immediately.
