Could a ‘Call the Midwife’ season 5 star appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’?
Just as we’ve long reported a variety of different “Dancing with the Stars” casting rumors, we’re here today talking about the series that really started the whole ballroom-dancing-on-TV crazy to begin with in “Strictly Come Dancing” and the chatter that there could be a major BBC crossover.
According to a report from the Telegraph, the series could be booking one of the stars of “Call the Midwife” for a spot on the upcoming competition, and it is pretty easy to understand why they would want to. The drama series is one of the biggest hits on the network, and while we don’t know the filming schedule by heart, much of production may be done at around the time that the competition really gets going. Even if not, there may be a way for the cast member chosen to do double-duty.
Of course, the question here is mostly who to choose. Miranda Hart probably has too many other things going on, and we don’t really imagine one of the leads wanting to commit to it for that long. We could see one of the show’s supporting characters, signing on, but really have no idea just who it could be. For BBC, obviously the biggest get would probably be signing Helen George, but as we just mentioned, she is one of the leads.
Regardless of who is chosen, any “Call the Midwife” star would be a boon to the show’s chances of continuing its recent ratings domination against “The X Factor.” While “Strictly” does have a format that is appealing on its own to viewers, some of its ratings are dependent on the cast chosen.
