‘Scream’ episode 8 preview: More death is (clearly) on the way

We know that there were some of you somewhat bummed-out (strange as that may sound) over the lack of major deaths recently on “Scream.” Well, we wonder if that has changed at all following the events of Tuesday night’s new episode. This was arguably the most shocking episode that the show has delivered yet, and not just because of who we lost. It was the way in which we lost him.

It should not come as much of a shock to anyone that Will died. The episode started after he was drug away, and there was really no sensible reason to think that he was going to make it out of that situation even remotely unscathed.

Where some of the drama comes from here is mostly now seeing that it was Emma who unwillingly killed her ex-boyfriend in horrifying fashion. He made it through the first hurdle, but couldn’t survive the second … and the worst could very well still be to come. This is not a show that really offers up a whole lot of time to think about what has happened. Instead, you have to figure out what is going to happen the rest of the way.

There are still three more episodes left this season, and clearly one of the great challenges is going to be finding a way to resolve this story in a matter that is satisfying. Our guess is that this is not going to be an easy task; anytime that you have a show with a central mystery like this, you have to anticipate a polarizing reaction to the reveal.
