‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Michelle Dockery lands another post-show role

MaryIf there is any one person from “Downton Abbey” who we would commend at the moment for probably putting together the best post-show resume, it would probably be Michelle Dockery. After all, just look at what she has together at the moment. The actress already has a TV project that could come to fruition over on TNT, and she has added to her arsenal yet again right now courtesy of a new feature film gig.

Dockery has just signed on to appear in the feature film adaptation “The Sense of an Ending” alongside Charlotte Rampling, Jim Broadbent, Harriet Walter and Emily Mortimer, and this will give her a chance to flex more dramatic muscles on TV. Broadbent plays the main character of Tony Webster, a man who must look back at his past in order to discover potentially a better path to his future. Julian Barnes wrote the novel on which this is based.

Dockery and many other cast members are in many ways still in the farewell phase of “Downton Abbey,” which became a landmark series for their careers and for ITV. It really spread the influence of British television around the world, and of course opened many doors for the cast.

What we mostly like and appreciate right now about what Dockery is doing is that she is trying out a variety of different things. There is of course this great dramatic role, but to go along with that she also is looking at some other projects that are extremely different.
