‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 6, episode 9 review: Does prom night lead to big Charles reveal?
We are building towards some of the biggest reveals in the history of “Pretty Little Liars,” and tonight’s “Last Dance” established at least some of the emotional framework for what is to come.
For one, many of these characters started to formulate something that looks at least on paper somewhat similar to an exit plan. Aria has a chance to start an internship in Los Angeles, Ezra is heading off to Thailand for charity work, and potentially Caleb has a new, super-secret job that will allow him and Hanna to live in New York. Hey, any place that can get the Liars out of Rosewood is good, right? Certainly their moms want that. (By the way, wasn’t it nice to see all of the mothers together for a change? This struggle gave them some perspective on what their daughters go through.)
Also, in the thick of the girls’ prom we had a chance to learn that Clark is actually an undercover cop, and was following Ali in her attempts to figure out just who Charles really is. Ali was captured anyway, and in the closing seconds she got a chance to see his face for the first time.
Did we really enjoy this episode? For the most part, yes, even if it felt very obvious throughout that almost the entire purpose of this episode was gearing up for the big reveal next week. That’s when we will learn for the first time just who Charles really is, what he had planned, and also if there is any hope to do away with him. Episode Grade: B.
