‘The Muppets’ spoilers: Imagine Dragons to be first musical guest
While we have seen a pretty brilliant pilot presentation for “The Muppets” (which was made earlier this year to convince ABC to give them a show), one thing we had not seen before now was a little more information in regards to what the actual show will be about.
Today at TCA, executive producers Bob Kushell and Bill Prady confirmed that the show-within-a-show that the Muppets are working on is a late-night comedy program entitled “Up Late with Miss Piggy.” The show will revolve around the behind-the-scenes dealings of the program, and at the time in which we begin here, Kermit the Frog will be dating a different pig named Denise who works in marketing. This is going to be awkward, no? We figure at first Miss Piggy will put on a brave face, but we can see things going really south here in a very short period of time.
Also, it was confirmed that Imagine Dragons will be the first musical guests for the fictional talk show. This is a nice gig for the group, and they are high-profile enough that they will also brings some more attention and publicity to the series at the same exact time.
One thing that was stressed here, though, is that this is not going to be a variety show that you watch every Tuesday. So we don’t know if there will be full performances featuring any musical act, and they may just be incorporated as cameos where they get to act a little, and then you may get thirty seconds or so of a performance. Time will tell on that.
For now, just be sure to head over here to watch the full presentation for the series you haven’t already. Also, sign up here to get some more TV updates on just about everything we cover, sent right in your direction via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
