‘Hannibal’ season 3, episode 9 preview: Your Alana Bloom update

While we got a glimpse of Dr. Alana Bloom on the beginning of “Hannibal’s” Red Dragon saga last week, there were still many questions … with one of the primary ones being whether or not she and Margot Verger were still together.

Based on the sneak peek below, we have some sort of answer: They seem to be going strong. Not only that, but they also have a family to go along with it. The plan to conceive a Verger baby turned out to be success, as Alana carried a son out to term using the seed that they got from Mason Verger before his death in “Digestivo.” This in turn entitled Margot to the entire family fortune, which means that for the most part, there is really no need for Dr. Bloom to spend her time working around Hannibal Lecter anymore. She certainly does not need the paycheck!

Yet, we get the sense from her clearly that this is more based out of her need to ensure that justice is properly served, and that includes making sure that Hannibal is not able to get through those five doors to the outside world. She trusts no one, and she is certainly smart to not trust Will Graham given the connection that he has had to Lecter over the years. Her main priority now seems to be preserving justice, and doing just about everything that she can to make sure he doesn’t hurt anyone else.

Of course, we’ll get a chance tomorrow night to see if things are any more complex than that.
