‘Reign’ season 3 spoilers: Amy Brenneman to return
Amy Brenneman may be rather busy at the moment thanks to some of her other work on HBO’s “The Leftovers,” but this is not stopping her from at least getting one more episode of royal drama in on “Reign.”
As first reported by Entertainment Weekly, the former “Judging Amy” star will be appearing in at least one season 3 episode as Mary’s mother Marie de Guise. She is a woman who can be caring and could almost certainly help Mary as she is going through a tough time. Just look at Francis’ current physical state as one example of what she is going through, or potentially also what is going on between England and France.
However, Marie has a variety of other problems that she is also dealing with. Namely, she is dying. It is unclear whether she will visit Mary or vice-versa, but at least celebrate the fact that the character is not gone from the show just yet.
Hopefully getting Brenneman will help to bring some more consistency and support to “Reign,” given that this is a series that needs almost all the help that it can get right now. The series is premiering on October 9 as a part of a new Friday lineup. For the first time it will not have the support of airing after “The Vampire Diaries,” or airing on a night when the majority of its potential audience is at home watching. Hopefully its international success and also studio affiliation (CBS shows tend to have more ratings leeway on The CW than Warner Bros. shows, as there are fewer of them) will help to create some avenues for it to succeed even if the live ratings suffer in America.
