‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: The good and the bad with Josh Dallas
Although Charming may have at times the life of a Prince on “Once Upon a Time,” we should never completely forget that not everything is ever as easy as it seems. This is a man who has to deal with relationship problems, villains in Storybrooke, a complicated past, heartache, and in the fifth season, having a daughter in Emma Swan who will be possessed with the power of the Dark One. The Dark Swan is going to be so much more than a basic villain whose nickname sounds somewhat similar to a Natalie Portman movie; her actions and her emotions could cause tension among those who lover her.
Take, for example, her own parents. As star Josh Dallas teases to Entertainment Weekly, this new side to Jennifer Morrison’s character is “definitely going to put a strain on Snow and Charming’s relationship … There are things they’re going to go through in finding their way back to Emma.” Who knows quite how this will manifest itself? Maybe the two will differ on how to deal with the changes that Emma is going through, and we could foresee a little bit of arguing or even tears that go along with that.
In the end, though, we’d be shocked if things become too tense between Snow and Charming; this is an idealistic show, and one that wants to find the good in everyone. Remember here that we may even be getting a happier Rumpelstiltskin in season 5.
For those curious as to some happier times, have no fear. Dallas also teases that his character will have some great material this season with newcomer King Arthur, who could in turn be tied into the search of Merlin, the one person who could relieve Emma of what ails her:
“You’re going to see Charming have a big bromance with King Arthur and go on some adventures. We’re going to see Charming at his most heroic in Camelot.”
