‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 6, episode 6 review: Figuring out cousin Carlo
Last week’s new episode of “Rizzoli & Isles” was pretty heavy. There is no easy way of getting around that. This is ultimately what happens when you have an installment of the show themed around the death of a character in Susie.
This is what made Tuesday night’s episode a nice change of pace. There were some dramatic moments, especially as Jane and Maura worked to figure out a very complicated case where one of the only witnesses to a death was someone suffering from a rare form of faceblindness. There were some sweet moments in here, but at the same time there was a job to do in figuring out whether or not this person in Elliot really suffered from what he claimed, and then also how to find a real killer when he did not have the means to identify them under typical circumstances. This forced the team to get creative.
Also, tonight brought us Cousin Carlo and a fun little side story where he was almost going to be found out from the very beginning. Sure, this was insanely predictable and easy to detect, but we’re not going to complain too much about it for the time being since it brought something different to the show. Sometimes, it takes a lot for a person to change.
In between Carlo and the Frankie side story, this was all enough ultimately to lighten up a story that needed a little bit of this after some hard times as of late. We’ll see what direction the show goes in from here next week. Episode Grade: B.
