‘Once Upon a Time’ season 5 spoilers: ‘The Price’ of pain
Before production began on the first episode of “Once Upon a Time” season 5, we learned that the premiere would be titled “The Dark Swan.” This may be the most predictable name for an episode ever, or at least for a premiere. Emma being possessed by the Dark One was the cliffhanger, and given that “Dark Swan” was the fan name generated by many of the show’s fans online, giving the episode that name made sense.
As for the title for the second episode of the season, let’s just say that this one brings a little more intrigue to the table. According to executive producer Adam Horowitz on Twitter (see below), the upcoming second episode of the season will be entitled “The Price.” This is being by Andrew Chambliss and Dana Horgan, who together have a lengthy history on the show. They have also written episodes together before, including “Lily” and “Poor Unfortunate Soul.”
In analyzing this title, it is easy to look back at one of the show’s signature catchphrases: “Magic always comes with a price.” If there is some magic that is done specifically to either summon Merlin (the person who could spare Emma of her fate) or remove the Dark One’s curse, there will be a consequence to that. What that consequence is will be part of the waiting game for this episode.
Is it wrong to say that we hope Dark Emma sticks around for a while? As much as we want to see her emerge from this okay in the end, at the same exact time part of the fun this off-season is waiting to see what she is like in this state.
Now that we’ve discussed this particular title, let’s move on to Merida. Head over here if you are especially curious to read more about the most high-profile addition this season.
