‘The Originals’ season 3 spoilers: Will there (and should there) be a ‘Vampire Diaries’ crossover?

Could there be a crossover between “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” moving forward? It’s something that we know many fans out there want, and there is always going to be talk of it. However, these two CW shows have really shied away from it a little more than we thought we would before they started to air.

So should the writers, executive producers, and cast get together at some point this season for something epic? We’re going to examine this in terms of the pros and cons.

The case for a crossover – It’s a chance for extra publicity, and for some timeslot synergy to go along with it since you have both shows airing airing on the same night. Plus, interesting character combinations exist! Obviously Klaus and Caroline have a history, much in the way that he does with several characters over there. Hayley at least knows some of people in Mystic Falls (given that she can get out of wolf form), and so does Elijah.

Also, who doesn’t want to see some good stuff for Davina and Bonnie, or what happens when people like Damon and Marcel collide great extent.

The case against it – As the producers explain to TVLine in a new video from Comic-Con, there are logistics issues that come to mind. You run the risk of slowing down other stories to throw this one in there, and it could also wreck a few storylines for current cast members.

Another simple reason against it is that maybe at this point, the shows have different viewerships, and putting them together is not necessarily going to be worth the extra work hours.
