‘Hannibal’ season 3: Fans boo over NBC cancellation; see Bryan Fuller’s take
There was no news in regards to a potential fourth season of “Hannibal” at the show’s official Comic-Con panel early Saturday evening, but at the same time there was plenty of discussion around what the show’s future could be … starting with a series of different reactions to NBC canceling the show.
Obviously fans are not going to be happy with the network, and they booed regularly when the subject of the cancellation came up. However, show creator Bryan Fuller offered up a different take, saying that NBC “let [them] do some crazy s**t for three years, [and] they deserve our applause.” It is in some ways a true assessment. The ratings were not good enough for the show to really secure a future on any broadcast network other than maybe The CW; at least NBC did keep it on longer than CBS or ABC likely would, and they also did not censor the show a whole lot given the extreme content.
Fuller made it clear that they are still looking for a home, and there is still a chance for some sort of feature film, as well. We figure there are some more streaming outlets out there that could be candidates, and if it is the thing that would get it made versus not made, we would be fine with crowdfunding.
There was a lengthy clip for the second half of the season that played (we will hopefully have more on that tomorrow), and it showed off some more of the Red Dragon story as we hope to see it on TV. The biggest thing to know here is that there are many cool stories ahead, and this season should be fantastic no matter what the future holds.
