MTV’s ‘Scream’ season 2 official; show renewal, Bella Thorne return announced at Comic-Con
Well, you can definitely file this one under “Comic-Con news we did not see coming.”
While promoting the first season of “Scream” at the San Diego convention, MTV confirmed that there is going to be a second go-around for these characters at some point next year! While we thought it very well possible that the show would come back for more, we also assumed at the same time that the network would wait for a little while in order to ensure that the ratings were going to be up to snuff for the entire season. After all, there are many occasions in which audiences do tend to bail on shows, and it happens far more often with ones that cater to a younger audience.
If you thought that this was surprising, wait until you hear this: Somehow, Bella Thorne is going to return … despite her character being killed off very early into this new season. Maybe this is an alternate universe or a flashback, or maybe this is some sort of anthology. We cannot imagine her just being stuck in somewhere to play a new character.
This renewal is at least a big victory for scripted content at MTV, as the network is trying to show clearly that they do have a certain model of consistency that they want to continue to follow. The last thing that you want to do is continue to order and then cancel series without any regard to what the audience will think about you getting rid of their favorites.
