‘Suits’ season 5, episode 3 review: Harvey and Louis clash further
The fifth season of “Suits” has been for the most part an emotional rollercoaster, mostly from the standpoint of watching characters juggle personal feelings and professional responsibilities.
For Mike Ross, much of this boiled down to one thing: Reconciling the relationship that he has with Robert Zane away from the case, and the one he has with it. He wants to impress a future father-in-law who is cutthroat and sometimes out for himself. Was there a mutual respect or understanding? Maybe by the end of the episode they started to get on better terms … but only slightly. This episode, given where we are in the season, is probably just the beginning of what we are going to see with these two and this case, which Mike is treating especially personal given his own background.
While all of this was transpiring, tonight’s episode brought us the latest in the war between Harvey and Louis … which basically consists of them going around and saying different things to different people that leave loyalties up in the air. Harvey went back to his therapists, Louis claimed he would never jeopardize his working partnership with Donna ever again, and at the end Harvey accused Louis of siding with Jack over him, threatening to “bury him” if the habit continued.
Were we entertained watching most of this story? Sure, but for some odd reason tonight especially felt like we have been down this road before. It may be time for “Suits” to at least start considering taking up down a road that does not include Harvey and Louis sniping with each other over Donna. Grade: B.
