‘Game of Thrones’ enters season 6 with new ratings records
Once the dust has settled on season 5, though, one thing remains the same: The rich is getting richer when it comes to the most-watched series in the history of the network. Per a new press release, HBO is boasting roughly 20 million viewers for season 5, which is up from the 19.1 million for the fourth season.
For those wondering about some other numbers, “Silicon Valley” managed to eclipse 6 million viewers for the first time for its second season. Meanwhile, “Veep” declined slightly to 4.1 million viewers after having 4.5 million for its third season. Is this a sign that this show is declining? We wouldn’t say that so much as that it is having a harder time drawing people in the moment. There is so much different competition out there for people to check out! It’s hard to pin people down to a given series.
All three of these shows will return with new episodes in the spring, so we’ll have some more news on them every step of the way.
