‘Teen Wolf’ season 5, episode 3 review: The rise and fall of Tracy
Tonight, the mission for most of “Teen Wolf” was pretty simple: How to stop a person living out night terrors. Tracy was shown to be a serial murderer of sorts, but she was a little bit different from the standard villain. After all, this was someone who was not entirely aware of what was happening around her.
The scenes tonight involving the hunt for Tracy were definitely some of the episode’s best, and for a variety of different reasons. For one, it was an opportunity to see some cool action scenes, but we also learned a little more of what Malia is capable of. This was her chance, along with Kira and some awesome sword action, to be somewhat of a hero. Malia had to be the one to make Tracy realize that she was not exactly dreaming … but what happened next was not exactly a happy ending for the character.
So three episodes in, Tracy is gone as a compelling villain. That feels somewhat like a bummer, since she really did bring something a little bit different to the series. Thankfully, at least the Dread Doctors are still out there to terrify us.
Was this the most informative episode of “Teen Wolf” that we’ve ever seen? Far from it, but we still feel like there is a lot for longtime fans of the show to enjoy. For one, there is still the presence of the oh-so mysterious Theo, who seems desperate for a chance to prove to Scott and company that he is worthy of their trust. Whether or not he actually is, though, is something still to be seen. Episode Grade: B+.
