‘The Last Ship’ season 2, episode 5 preview: The duel for a cure

“The Last Ship” has taught us a number of things over the course of the second season, but one of the most surprising things has been the simple fact that for whatever reason, not everyone seems to want to see a cure exist in this world. This forces Chandler into the protector role even more than he already is, with him knowing that he is suddenly fighting for something so much greater than just his crew on the Nathan James.

The title for next week’s episode is “Achilles,” and we have to believe that this is no coincidence, and meant to be some sort of reflection on the fact that there are relentless battles going on that could prove to be problems for Chandler and his crew. What we could see in the end, at least based on the short description below, is a battle that involves so much more than firepower. It could also consist of just who is smart enough to figure out how to get the upper hand:

“Chandler and his crew duel against rogue British naval officers manning a nuclear-powered submarine. Meanwhile, Slattery interrogates a mercenary to learn more about a hospital ship, and a dangerous game of cat-and-mouse ensues.”
