‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 7 spoilers: Candice Accola on the Stefan – Caroline ‘slow burn’
There are a variety of different characters on “The Vampire Diaries” who are fairly easy to root for, but at the moment Caroline and Stefan are fairly high on the list. While she has had some other love interests over the years, what makes this one feel different is that these are two characters who seemed to legitimately start as friends, and we got to know them more in that way before anything romantic started to surface at all. That gives them a deeper, richer relationship, and it hopefully also keeps them away from some of the melodrama.
One thing that we do know is that with Nina Dobrev now gone from the show, Candice Accola is one of the women most likely to see an increase in screen time. While she may not have much to say just yet in the way of direct scoop on “Steroline’s” future, she was able to offer up the following fun quote to TV Guide on her journey with Paul Wesley’s character so far:
“I feel like six seasons is a nice, long slow-burn, so I’m excited to see these characters together … Usually, it’s so immediate, especially on our series … but in real life, it’s the person you can be yourself in front of in the most dorky way. Both of these characters have seen the worst in each other and they still like each other and I think that’s really cool and that’s really special.”
At this point, it feels like relationship stability is really what this show needs more than anything else. In other words, cut out most of the hookups and breakups, and focus a little bit more on keeping people together and fighting against compelling villains. That should be how we start to look towards the finish line for this show, which realistically probably only has a few years left, at most.
