‘Mr. Robot’ episode 2 preview: Even more reasons to love this show
Sometimes, a show manages to do something to blow you away even before it gets anywhere near its first-season finale. Today, that show is USA’s “Mr. Robot.” It is intense, creative, and exposes you to more of the real world of hackers. It’s not like some cheesy conception of what they were like in the nineties; this feels real, and we certainly know that it is thoroughly entertaining from start to finish.
One other thing that we love about the show right now is how serious the show and USA are taking making this show a success. They are not only marketing the show around its central conceit, but even the promotional materials reflect that. For example, the episode for next week is entitled “eps1.1_ones-and-zer0es.mpeg.” We’re not joking. That sounds like a file you’d find online, but that is actually the name of the episode.
Meanwhile, the synopsis below sounds like something that you’d see in a hacker’s log, and not necessarily an official network press release:
“elliot torn between job offer from evil corp and joining fsociety. @ same time elliot needs to make decision that could harm ppl around him.”
We’re insanely fascinated to see where this series goes from here, mostly because the pilot in some ways felt like it could have been a movie, and almost everything else is a sequel that will continue along the journey to a certain degree. We’re rooting for Elliot, but at the same time we’re not sure that he has all of the skills necessarily to survive the world he is throwing himself into.
