‘Orphan Black’ season 4 spoilers: Exec on surprising pregnancy

The finale of “Orphan Black” is probably something that you are still recovering from to a certain extent, and for good reason given just how much content was packed into the episode. There were a few major teasers for what is coming in season 4, and in terms of the clones, one of the biggest ones is simply the fact that Helena is pregnant! She’s an unlikely candidate in many ways, with the biggest one being that she is such a different, dangerous sort of character. The vast majority of time, this is not someone that you want to mess with.

So how will this pregnancy change the character, if at all? While executive producer Graeme Manson was of course coy about some specifics of what is coming up, he did say the following in a new interview with the Daily Beast:

“[We’re] still in the very early stages of the writers’ room for season four. But I love the fact that Helena is pregnant. It’s just a great journey. But also, this is the second child of a clone and her offspring is potentially very important. So even a domestic Helena is still a dangerous Helena, I would say.”

This of course has the potential to be one of our favorite stories of the upcoming season, mostly because we do not quite see Helena being the sort of person that is going to settle in to anything resembling normalcy at all in the near future. It’s just not in her DNA.
